Founded by a textile engineer, Bergan targets the upscale hospitality and restaurant sector from the outset, bringing its expertise and textile know-how to bear in order to serve the most demanding customers.
Customisation, specific weaving, jacquard weave, fine-tuning and meticulous finishing are the company’s hallmarks.
Drawing upon its know-how and textile expertise, Bergan launches its 1st collection of bath linen dedicated to the hospitality industry.
This bath linen line, designed and woven exclusively for Bergan, consists of towels, bath sheets and bathmats. The collection with the famous “Shells” design immediately meets with a unanimous acclaim from the traditional hospitality and accommodation sector. This very resistant plied terry collection with its original design would go on to inspire many variations, with the distinctive shell pattern in pink, blue or white, gracing the bathrooms of many establishments.
Now recognised by France’s largest hotels and prestigious restaurants, BERGAN forms its first partnerships with Palaces. First up is Hotel du Cap Eden Roc, marking the start of a relationship of trust forged over nearly 20 years. This establishment would be joined a few years later by the George V and the Meurice, followed by Le Strato and the Arirelles, with Bastide de Gordes hot on their heels.
Bergan draws upon its best teams and seamstresses to work with its Palace partners for exceptional linen and 100% bespoke manufacturing.
BERGAN continues its development within the upmarket 3 and 4-star hotel sector, having already won over many independent hotels in France and neighbouring countries. Hotel owners and housekeepers recognise Bergan for the quality of its linen and its ability to orchestrate the most complex of weaves, bleaching and dyeing and produce bespoke-made items for prestigious customers.
A changing French hospitality industry sees the arrival of new hotel rankings shake up a sector in need of renovation. In 2010, Dominique de Checchi, a decorative textile and linen professional, takes over Bergan’s business, bringing all his experience to bear for the benefit of hoteliers and chefs, whether owners, buyers, investors or managers.
The company moves out of its restrictive, dilapidated offices and workshops, relocating to Armentières, the textile cradle of the North of France, to embark upon a new beginning.
Bergan experiences many changes in the first few years after its 2010 takeover: a range redesign, new visual identity, new partners, new sales staff, new processes and tools, participating in Equiphotel…
In 2012, Julien Berlem joins the company as a partner, contributing to Bergan’s rapid growth.
Luxury hotels, palaces, Michelin-starred restaurants and high-end spas now constitute the majority of its clientele.
Bergan quickly adapts to its customers’ new digital needs, launching the first version of its website to present its offering and receive requests for quotes.
Although this first website targets independent hotels in search of beautiful linen, Bergan continues to pursue its aim of being the reference brand for textiles in the luxury hospitality industry.
This is the strategy adopted with the brand new version of its website, www.bergan.fr.
Bergan celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, proudly continuing the French textile tradition and know-how with its many customers in France, Europe and around the world.
As it has done since its creation, Bergan continues to implement precise know-how, drawing upon a highly qualified workforce to offer you exceptional textile products! “We’re very happy to be celebrating this event with you, our dear customers and prospects. We’d especially like to thank our long-standing customers with whom we’ve forged a relationship of trust over 25 years”. Dominique de Checchi – CEO
